Oh dear…the last thing we need is false sympathy.

Who needs sympathy. If you want to help go away, leave me alone and call in three days.

I hate people fussing over me when I’m ill. Just let me deal with it in my own way.

Well, that’s just you guys (and me). Many people like to be fussed over and get lots of sympathy, and they’re offended if you don’t pay attention to them. In fact, they get extra dramatic (see comic) just to make sure they get attention. So stop thinking that Ben is just like you – maybe he wants attention from Liv and it makes him feel better and she’s used to it after many years of marriage. “Dying”, when it’s probably just a cold! LOL

My baby is the same way, women can run a household the week after giving birth. Men are “dying” if they catch a cold.

My husband and I made a pact when we got married: if one of us is sick, the other will go to work. HE wants to die in peace, and I am a blanket twitcher and pillow turner par excellance. We drive each other crazy.

For years I told my husband my knee hurt . . . he was nice but still was upset when I walked more slowly than he. When we retired and moved to FL, the doctor ordered x-rays just to “take a look”. At the next appointment, the doctor came in and put his arms around me (!!!) and said “I don’t know how you have done it but I want you in the hospital tomorrow for a knee transplant.” My husband is still making it up to me!

I don’t know how I’d react if my doctor put his arms around me..My knees always hurt, but no-ones suggested a replacement. My step-mother (some thirty years older than me) often says, “Oh, this or that hurts.” I always reply, “I’ve had that for years.”. She comes back with, “But you’re younger than me.” I respond with, “But you’re tougher than me.”
