    Right Lewreader, The banking problem in broad terms, on two fronts.

    1.The government pressure for banking institutions to extend loan terms for subprime ‘risk’. 2.Those very same banks selling at first, ARMs with those nice looow payments, at least to start …then next came the ‘interest only’ loans, buy soooo much more house for the same amount of money! Of course the banker can answer the question asked, “but I will have no equity…right?” with….(with a wink) “have you ever heard of house prices going down?” Simplification? Of course, but the essence of what has gone on. All the best this New Year Lew.
