Love it when they defend themselves.Saw a defendant who was representing himself get on the stand to testify then looked at the judge when he was done saying he want to cross examine and re-explain himself. The judge just looked at him and said “You really thought this out didn’t you?” The defendant said “Well I did read a book about law but got bored and fell asleep.”It was all we in the gallery could do not to burst out loud laughing.

Isn’t that what all the “drunken drivers” say after their 4th and 5th arrest for doing so???

On drunken drivers.Had one go to court. Begged and pleading for forgiveness.“I have a problem your honor. I need help to recover.”Judge went “Ok, 24months State Jail. Best drying out place I know.” “Baliff take him away.”Six months later he was back. Sober for one day. I got him that night drunk again behind the wheel. He sat there looked at me and said “I am not driving he was.” I went “Who?” He said " The guy that just ran off leaving me here." I said “Which way did he go?” (We were on a bridge with a 200 ft drop each side) He pointed to the side of the bridge. I said “So he jumped?” The drunk replied “I guess he did.” I said “Well was he drunk too?” “Yeah” “And you let him run off?” “Yeah” “Your now under arrest for Wrongful Death” He went “What?”I said “You were responsible for him and you let him jump.”He began to crying sobbing “I’m sorry” He was beginning to believe his own story. In the unit he went on about how good friends they were. Made great video in his trial.
