I’m really liking this story arc, but c’mon guys! There’s no need to make animal rescue workers seem so awful.

I agree with Bassrox. I’ve adopted several times and I never found a rude adoption worker. I’ve had one that was borderline but she had a point, she was exhausted and overworked thanks to irresponsible pet owners.

You can meet this type anywhere. Banks, store cashiers, wait-staff, phone centers in India, they all have ’em, why should a shelter be any different?

And when you hit that attitude you go to a different rescue group. There are plenty around.

And, yes, that self righteous attitude is often on display in these groups. So when you find a good group (like greyrescue.org ) you stick with it.

We’re in the process of capturing, neutering, and releasing a group of 7 cats (mother and 6 kittens) and have had quite a good relationship with the local Humane Society, most of whom, are volunteers. It is a busy place. My hat is off to those that work with these animals. It, I’m sure, can be both rewarding and tiring at the same time!

Unless that is a “no kill” sheter, than Laura was correct in her reference to rescuing a dog.

Just remember that jerks tend to be funnier than nice people in the comics. To a point.

Usually the rescue operations are ecstatic to see a potential adopter walk in the door. You are the answer to their prayers. This is rather surprising.

Ouch! That’s not the kind of attitude to have if you’re hoping to get donations from people who are using your services.

I’d look for another place to adopt a dog. They’re around.
