What I’d like for Christmas is for people to stop thinking about themselves for a day and think about helping others.

    Oh wait.

    I’m Jewish.

I must have the whole idea wrong. Nevermind. Go back to thinking “me, me, me. ”

If Scott read Leviticus [especially the part about the three tithes: Temple, Poor, Hospitality], he may find he does not have to be manipulated by any toon. He just might begin seeing the connection for the reason God created him with caring about saving our planet.

We are living in times when the Northwest Passage by sea has become a reality. A few more icebergs will see Venice and The Maldives drowning with New York soon to follow. At what point does “churlish” become Prophetic?

What I’d like for Xmas is for people like Scott to start actually thinking instead of just parroting their favorite propagandists.

55% of Americans vs. 38% support a global treaty to reduce climate change. And Bruce, right on, comrade Christian!

Oh, yeah, and Denmark is both one of the “greenest” countries in the world, and one of the most productive successful AND take care of their people better than we do. So there.

I hesitate to dignify the anti-science global warming deniers, but let’s think about it for a second: Who has more to gain from “manipulating” public opinion? Scientists and environmentalists (who have looked at empirical evidence and wish to stop a horrible disaster) or companies that produce and use fossil fuels, and have shown for decades that they will stop at nothing to protect their profits?

Scoofy – are you saying that Global Climate change isn’t real… or are you saying that you don’t believe it to be man-made. The latter is debatable (to be generous) the former is NOT debatable in the slightest.

Wow, a lot of ignorance in this thread, and it doesn’t belong to the benighted souls of the right.

Bottom line, it is based on actual purveyors of science that we make the argument about “climate change” that is, “Who cares?” Here’s just one expert out of thousands who is worth listening to…I would just love for one person here to tell me how an expert on hurricanes is a fruit loop about the environment.

HBuck, I hope William Gray is correct, but he’s one of a handful (I saw the list) of scientists who are in opposition to the consensus. If he’s right, then we environmentalists have been arguing for conservation and against pollution for one less reason out of many. If he’s wrong (and the scientific majority from all disciplines and nations thinks he is) then Global Warming is going to join the long list of human-caused disasters that we could have stopped, but didn’t.

Even a rudiementary study of the amount of heat increasing in the atmosphere shows that global warming is simply undeniable. PERIOD. Whether or not the trillions of tons of carbon dioxide man is pumping into it from our cars & factories is the sole cause or a major cause does allow for debate. NOT that the oil & gas companies would ever lie to us—as always, big biz is our trusted & loyal friends, and they have only the earth’s (and our) best interest at heart. HA HA HA HA…… Al Gore and his sinister motives? Ooooh….trying to ensure the earth is safe for our kids. How horrid. From Medicare to Civil Rights, to Viet Nam, to Nicarauga, to WMD’s, is the right EVER on the correct side of history? Dont you righties ever get tired of being a bunch of evil, short sighted, selfish dickweeds? (apparently not)

USA Today: http://tinyurl.com/ycnwx2c And I might ask - who said cap-and-trade would raise monthly electricity bills $10/month? That sounds nonsensical to me ($120 a year?), and thus a highly biased poll. You know, the “if the public option bill meant you would have to kill one of your children, would you support it?” kind of question.

Of course, churchill, but the question remains: how much? There’s a balance point. I’m just wondering what it is.
