To introduce myself, I’m from Japan and have been reading these comments for quite a while. Thought of posting occasionally, if I had something to.

    wolfbyte36,

how the heck is that kid so dang smart when he’s not in school. ? May be because the school forces him to learn things, unlike paleontology which he likes and learns.

Kid are born curious. They’re born scientists. When a kid gets some spoons and saucepans and bangs them together, we discourage it as mischief, but that’s an experiment in acoustics!

I did an archeological dig in my back yard once. I dug halfway to China, almost 12 inches down, and found the jawbone of a PTuiosaur that looked most remarkably like a rusted crescent wrench…

One defect in that green_engineer; Hobbes licks himself clean, so the age will always come out as “1 day”.

I did that too! Then I took the corroded old jawbone down to Sears and they gave me a spankin’ new Craftsman wrench for it.

Welcome Chamin to this board. I am impressed with your english skills.

Isn’t it amazing how Calvin struggles with simple math and history reports, yet is at an amazing skill level for a six year old when it comes to paleontology?

P.S., Calvin you need to use soap (“and with massage and a little bit of steeeeeaaaam….) to get the dirt off in the bath.

P.S., Sorry, a little Rocky Horror got thrown in there. I watched it for the umpteenth time over the weekend. I guess I’m stuck in a Time Warp.

That’s not dirt, it’s a super resistant protective coating that repels slimy girls, deflects unwanted messages from parents and allows him to easily slip into his spaceman spiff suit.

Oh come on, there are NO Rocky Horror Picture Show fans on this board? I expected at least one response to the lyrics to “I Can Make You A Man” and the RHPS reference.

I can’t help myself, I relate to life (and C&H) through music.

Apparently, Hobbes just wipes Calvin’s wet sweating off from Calvin’s head with only one finger while Calvin digs the ground. Very interesting, eh! hee hee…

margueritem, are you suggessting gardening in the nude? I once tested an educational test to a first-grader. The test was to identify various pictures. He couldn’t recall the word “pyramid” so finally said “How am I supposed to know about ancient Egypt? I’m only 6.”

Yukoner, is that like the air-bag joke about old VW buses?

“Old VW minibus was the first vehicle known to have an air-bag, the Torsional Youth-designed Repelling Emboliser (T.Y.R.E.) upfront ”

I mention it because Bill Watterson mentioned he never uses their names because it’s Calvin’s world, and they’re just mom and dad to him. Hence why Uncle Max appeared once, because it was too hard to write without him using a first name. I always thought that meant Calvin never knew their names.
