As a young child, like many others from my generation i watched Sesame Street. In Canada they generally substituted French for the Spanish that occurred occasionally as part of the original show. One of the bits they did was about calling your parents for water in the middle of the night. Eau is French for water. So the show taught little kids to call out “Oh! Oh!” in the middle of the night when thirsty so the parents would come running thinking you were in pain only for you to ask them for a glass of water.
