Don’t these things usually come in relatively nondescript boxes or envelopes, addressed to one person in particular?

Seems like there might be a niche market for a personal “unpacking” service. :)

You should have thought about that when you ordered, since you don’t know who’s going to get it when it shows up. If you ordered it gift wrapped then it wouldn’t matter who gets it. This has been a public service announcement.

Why is the doorbell ringing for a delivery? Packages are just dropped on the front steps or driveway & with no notice given that they are there. True even if the package is marked “keep refrigerated” * & even if it is the wrong house.

Husband had medical insurance policy which changed its rules & he had to order insulin which must be kept cold. Told it would be 2 day Fed Ex & would be in cold pack for same and we would have to sign for it anyway so it would not be left in the July heat. It took 4 days, came by UPS, was left on our front steps without a ring of the doorbell (we had not left the house for 2 days waiting for it) in 80F+weather. It had even, apparently, sat in the pharmacy of the insurance company for a day – out of the fridge – in the heat. (Did get permission after that for local pickup of the insulin.)

We went away on a trip & when we returned home – a week later there was a carton sitting on the side of our house. It was the neighbor on the other side of the house and looked pretty bad as it had been out in the rain. We often get packages left for people we don’t know where their address is.

But I guess the front steps – while terribly obviously something has been left is better than the foot of our driveway is more the norm – I walked out as a 6 ft tall roll of batting was being left at foot of driveway – told that he had to just leave it as it was not sent to a business – I pointed out our corporate name on the label. Another time I came home from work. Husband’s car was on the driveway with – a box of $400 of fabric standing – on end so it was very obvious – behind his car. Since husband could not have driven through the box – it was left after he was home – again not even a ring of the doorbell.

We live on a 4 lane main road with a bus stop across the street. Not a quiet side street. The only time we will order anything to be delivered if it is something we ABSOLUTELY NEED and that we ABSOLUTELY CAN’T BUY LOCALLY!
