    Children’s television presenter Donald Wilkins, known to millions as Don Gravy, was found in a ditch near his home on Sunday morning.

    Wilkins, a familiar face on television since the later 1980s, was last seen leaving the Old Bell pub on Horse Hill around 11pm on Saturday.

    “He was in good spirits,” said landlord Tom Jackson. “Don was well known to the regulars and was always up for a laugh. He was happy to whip out Simon if someone asked, and if he didn’t have the doll, he’d just wave his bare hands around.”

    Wilkins, 55, had not been a regular presence on-screen since the cancellation of ‘Gravy Time’ in 2009. The breakdown of his marriage soon followed.

    Hospital representatives described his condition as “wholly mystifying, and probably untreatable.” Police are asking for witnesses who might be able to fill in the missing—
