   But, whilst alive, many horses are given drugs that are dangerous to humans. Through this situation, those drugs – betablockers and others – can enter the food chain. This is bad.

   The ILLEGAL part, though, is more about False Advertising…

   Most people here really really really, REALLY don´t care that its horse. The “issue” is the pricing, and not being able to trust the decleration (so again mainly a media, political issue). Besides there are as Alun says some riscs of medication, but its not that most people won´t eat horse.

   another bad thing is the fish we buy. some fish that is sold as cod, might not be cod.

   You do know that just about everything that you buy in the market has been genetically modified? Humans have been modifying food from prehistoric times on.

   Now go stand next to the people who said railroad travel over 50 mph would kill humans.

    Folks, read Alun’s comment again. The drug issue is paramount.
    Also for some there is the religious ban on eating hoofed animals.

    There is a HUGE difference between GMO and hybrids. The latter has been what was historically used.
