    Wow, Clark. How genuinely homophobic of you. Now you have to turn in your “Official Slavering Liberal” card.

    Hm, Carolina. Maybe it’s the outfit? Or the black lipstick? Not a lot of women could do justice to such a dark lip color, but it works for Aisha.

    Are you sure you know what an actual female looks like, or have you been looking at too many impossibly idealized comic characters?

    @Tue Elung-Jensen

    She’s based on a real dancer John knows- filtered through the style of the comic.

    @invertedyesterday

    Just a comics shortcut. I don’t generally draw outlined red lips.

    You mean her outfit? That’s based on the photos John sent me of the real Aisha.

    That certainly doesn’t look like the professional belly dancer I saw in Egypt… she actually had a belly :D

    More like Ayesha, She who must be obeyed.
    Most belly dancers are fairly trim. This one has love handles and thighs like a tackle.

    This is a comic strip version of a belly dancer.

    According to the Working Daze Blog: this comic character is based off John Zakour’s “belly dancing e-friend: Aisha.

    Impossibly idealized comic characters (female) are some of my favorites.

    Carolina and also CJ might make attractive belly dancers. I can also imagine Medusa shaking her belly and snakes simultaneously and seductively.
