    Oregon had it “decriminalized”, i.e. legal and somehow I just never got used to waking to gunfire from drug gangs slugging it out when I was in Portland. In 1995 alone there were more than 1000 homicides from the drug trade in Portland. Plus burglary, theft, domestic violence, and a lot of really weird crimes that made the news.
    .
    After so many, I got to where I hated to watch people I knew crash and burn.

    No, it’s not decriminalized when selling it is still illegal – and it’s those laws that create drug gangs, not the drugs. Or haven’t you noticed how the sellers of Budweiser and Coors aren’t shooting it out in the streets?

    So what your trying to tell us is that 1 in every 500 people in portland was killed in some drug related incident? Perhaps you should show where this number comes from.
