    Hey, Michael wme, I’m an atheist, and I can assure you that this isn’t one of our hoaxes. We are behind Bigfoot, Elvis and the Loch Ness monster, but global warming has never come up at one of our meetings. You might want to check with the Unatarians on that one.

    “It’s cold in the winter. Therefore, no global warming. I won’t believe it until it’s hot everywhere at once. Anyway my Colossus SUV has great a/c. Pass the crude, please.”

    This cartoon is a direct reference to the recent finding that the Siberian craters that have recently appeared seem to be due to methane that has been released explosively from the permafrost by the Arctic warming. Likewise, in some arctic waters, the methane concentration has risen significantly, again thought to be due to Arctic warming and consequent release of the methane. Those who are interested can google to get more information on this phenomenon.

    No, but I have heard at least one Rightie head-case claim that global warming is CAUSED by volcanoes.

    @Simon_Jester

    actually volcanoes have significantly affected the weather in the past. even mt. st. helens caused a major aberration in global weather.

    @louieglutz

    Was that because they made the atmosphere WARMER?

    Many of us had, but that was before Michael wme added links to his posts leading to informative websites, which give hints to his satire in addition to informing readers those who bother to look at the links.

    Would you be referring to Mike Huckabee claiming the Icelandic volcano added more CO2 into the atmosphere than did human activity of the past hundred years?

    Hole in the tundra from exploding methane because the area is warmer than normal.

    If you are going to repeat your inaccurate and nonsensical screed, at least start with the cartoon! This refers to the hole in the tundra that released a lot of methane. It’s a BIG problem, because it is considerably worse than CO2 in terms of being a greenhouse gas: twenty times worse, in fact.
    See here: http://epa.gov/climatechange/ghgemissions/gases/ch4.html
    So this has nothing to do with CO2. Please try to pay attention here, even if you are going to ignore the 99.97% of climate scientists and vast amount of research that shows you are incorrect.
