According to Bonehead, we can’t afford any of this stuff because America is broke. But do continue to vote Republican!

All failed policies and you want to buy them?

“Jobs” is a failed policy? I don’t think I want what you’re selling, sw10mm. Every thing here would be good for America, but the GOP’s top priority is to make sure that America fails under Democratic presidents. It’s no wonder their approval is worse than when they lost the last election. They are actively seeking failure, in the hope that it makes them look like a better alternative.

If we are not broke why do we have 16 trillion in debt?

The Teaparty has only been around for a few years the debt is over three decades old. How could the Teaparty (tea baggers) bankrupt the country?

masterskrain: We could start by using the real Second Amendment and save enough money to pay off the debt. The Second wasn’t to arm thugs, drug merchants, and psychopaths, but to ensure domestic tranquility and provide for the common defense without such European measures as a large standing army, mercenaries, and conscription – what we have now (conscription is only on paper, but if jobs improve enough that the jobless poor no longer have to “volunteer” in order to feed their families, it can be reinstated instantly).

I guess the question that always comes to my mind is why we think the government should provide all these ‘services’. The government is the least cost effective, inefficient group you could want to manage anything, yet we continually divert money away from the private sector to fund government. I suppose it almost always comes down to an issue of believing in large government vs small. It’s a never ending argument until we run out of money to fund government or can’t borrow more…

Just add death and destruction to every program and Americans will love them. I’ve never seen American’s opposed to going to war, regardless of the cost. Just don’t spend anything on social programs. Sure, after a few years and a rising body count we get tired of it, wait a year or two, and go to war somewere else. I’m sure all you folks think killing people dosen’t cost anything.

We had four years of Obama.
We heard everything he had to say, we saw the things he brought into law.
We heard the things he wanted to do in his second term.
We learned everything we needed to know about the man and his policies.
We gave him a landslide re-election victory.
Get over it, GOP. The majority of Americans want Obama as president, we want, by and large, the things he wants for the country.

San Francisco: America’s highest minimum wage, below-average unemployment.

However, I fail to see how giving workers a little bit more in their paychecks could possibly stimulate the economy…

re: “_Jobs_”, the GOP has blocked passage of jobs bills for political reasons – and then blamed Obama for it.
re: “_Pre-school_” – it’s patterned after the program in Oklahoma (the reddest of the red states) in which the Pre-K program works, with results conclusively pointing to a huge return on investment in student interest and social awareness.
re: “_Climate_” – just another Fox News denialist?
re “Min Wage Hike” – the jury’s still out. However, the minimum wage in 1969 was $2.50. Factoring in inflation on the current $7.50, that would be $1.15 in 1969 dollars. $2.50 is also the minimum wage across the border in the Maquilladoras.
re: “_Manufacturer_” – halting the Republican practice of handing out tax credits for off-shoring jobs is a good start. Obama has re-sparked industrial output – or is that just another inconvenient fact for you?
re: “Gun Control” unfortunately, most damage is already done, but that doesn’t mean we can’t discuss ways of stemming the tide (such as being allowed to enforce the laws that are already on the books) without knee-jerk ballistic reactions.
