He knows and he wants us to lose. The problem is when they try to blame it on Pres. Obama it won’t work. The public knows the hard line Republicans still want to obstruct.

Those cards he’s holding are all the different tax hikes he’s considering.

As long as the tax hikes are on the filthy rich, ok with me.
Bring abck the tax rates on the wealthy that were in effect during the 1950’s and 1960’s.
Restore Glass Steagall. Haul the thieves of wall street into court to be tried for their financial crimes.

Present revenues will not, can not, meet present and necessary obligations. Spending cuts alone cannot, will not, solve the problem as even honest conservatives like Ben Stein admit. The “no new taxes” pledge is a pledge to NOT solve our fiscal problems, it is a pledge to make America a Deadbeat Nation.
Given that reality (and it is reality), the only questions are: From whom is that additional revenue going to come? And, having cut spending to the minimum necessary to keep the country from going down the tubes, how little additional revenue can we get by on?
If all those cards are tax changes that the president is considering, the fact that the elephant is holding no cards at all is a measure of the fact that the elephant is still living in the land of fantasy and wishful thinking.
But there is a nice, neat answer for the elephant. Let the country go over the fiscal cliff, let the automatic tax hikes go into effect, THEN make a deal lowering them again, but not to the 2012 levels. The overall effect will be to raise taxes above present levels, but the GOP will be able to claim that they held firm and cut a deal to LOWER taxes! As a maneuver it would be utterly hypocritical and dishonest, but it might work very well for them. And when has hypocrisy and dishonesty stood in the way of … certain … politicians? Of course, there is still the shape of that “tax cut” to be considered, and that still requires the question, From whom are you going to get that additional revenue?

I object to only one thing – No way is Ben Stain an honest conservative.
He is just a variation on the grifters who play conservatives for suckers. He has made a nice living off of saying crap they like to hear. His occasional attempts to sound reasonable are simply made so that he does not fall off the list of “nice guy conservatives” that would limit him to FAUX News for his income

Which means BHO can not blame the failure of the economy on anyone else but…himself.

The Republicans always have the Blazing Saddles offence… You know, when Clevon Little rides into town and the townspeople are all against him… He puts his gun under his own chin and says “Nobody move…” Except that the Republicans are willing to shoot.
