If you were on the throne in 1776, you would’ve still lost the colonies in America and the monarchy would’ve continued in the UK.

We hold these goofs to be self-evident
That all men were created in error
That they be endowed by their creator
    with certain alienable rights
That among these are death, stupidity,
and the pursuit of the innocent. :-)

H’mmm … the part about abolishing tyranny could be interpreted to mean countries other than the US.
(In fact, I rather suspect it has in the past.)

As near as I can tell, an Aberdeen Cheesesteak is a Philadelphia Cheesesteak under another name.

A Philadelphia Cheesesteak is a steak with green peppers, fried onions, and mushrooms and cheese on the bun of your choice.

I see no evidence that citizens of the US have any more freedom than those of many other countries.

We had it first. But lately we’ve p/$$ed it away on cheap trash and hookers who promised the world.

Well, many English citizens maintain that their country didn’t lose the war so much as they just didn’t care about the colonies enough to continue it. One does wonder if Her Maj would’ve kept up the effort just for appearances.

I never claimed there is more freedom in the present day US than there is in the UK.

Many British grew tired of losing lives and fortune in a war across the ocean — just the way Americans turned against the wars in Vietnam and Iraq.
The opposition to the war started in Parliament. I don’t know if Victoria could have resisted growing cries to end the war.
Maybe, she wouldn’t have made the mistakes George III did that lead to the break with the colonies.

You have to remember, too, that poor old George may have been suffering, even then, from the illness that later afflicted him. Maybe if a healthy monarch had been in charge, things would have gone differently. Ya never know with history.

@orkeyjoe We hold this truth to be self evident, that all men are created equal… but some men are created more equal than others.

(…tip of the hat to George Orwell…)
