    @The Wolf In Your MidstMany British grew tired of losing lives and fortune in a war across the ocean — just the way Americans turned against the wars in Vietnam and Iraq.The opposition to the war started in Parliament. I don’t know if Victoria could have resisted growing cries to end the war.Maybe, she wouldn’t have made the mistakes George III did that lead to the break with the colonies.

    You have to remember, too, that poor old George may have been suffering, even then, from the illness that later afflicted him. Maybe if a healthy monarch had been in charge, things would have gone differently. Ya never know with history.

    And according to at least one historian, if the lines had been drawn properly, Philadelphia would be the largest city in Maryland. Look it up.
