Nicolas Cage is just another example of a very good actor who in his later years takes the easy way out (and lots of dough) and appears in endless remakes of the same action flick.
I paraphrase Alec Baldwin:

Iol lol . . . I’ve never seen Nicolas Cage portray ANY character other than “Nicolas Cage”. I always thought “Why is this guy getting paid to read his lines and not even TRY to act??”
Then I found out that he’s the nephew of a big, connected Hollywood director . . .
