His face looks strangely modern, like someone you could find in a neighborhood bar.

The man is a walking fashion don’t. Which probably means he has a TV show telling other people how to dress.

Either this guy’s afro has slipped or he’s hiding his lop-sided dreads.

Wearing it backwards way before it was considered cool. You can’t see the NY on the front.

Click-to-enlarge image available from here (last View All Sizes choice).

Portrait of Nathaniel Hurd (his Wikipedia page) is described in its current-location page (the different coloration title image source, click-to-enlarge image available from here).

When I searched Google Images (shows other colorations as well), I saw this click-to-enlarge image, and thought someone had photoshopped the strip’s painting. But then I saw other colorations of it as well. It is really an earlier unfinished portrait of him (must have liked the hat) by this artist. Both portraits are discussed here. The artist’s Wikipedia page and collection (more under Subcategories).

Seventh of the 12 works by this artist, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here.
