Tired of art snobs and their stuffy old museums? So was Steve Melcher, so he created That Is Priceless -- dedicated to taking art’s greatest masterpieces down a peg with irreverent new titles. You don’t have to be an art lover to appreciate Steve’s sticking it to the man on a regular basis – especially when that man is someone like Caravaggio, who when you look a little closer, was really kind of a jerk.

And as Edie Adams used to say about a Muriel Panatela,
“Why don’t you pick one up and smoke it sometime.”

“what are you thinking about, honey?”
“oh, nothing really, just thinking back to the time I was in prison.”

That . . . looks to be a pizzle stick, which is a type of walking stick probably not made these days. See, what you do is take the . . . ah . . . how to put it . . . the . . . er . . . extension . . . of a bull, stretch it out, work it so that the pizzle becomes all stiff and hard . . . permanently so . . .

Enlarged image (use browser zoom to enlarge more) available from here (last View All Sizes choice).
Portrait of Alfred Potocki (click link for his Wikipedia page) has a much bigger click-to-enlarge image available from its current-location page (to get the click-to-enlarge image, click the image there, not in its Google translation). This has another portrait of him by a different artist. The artist’s Wikipedia page and collection.
Third of the 4 works by this artist, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here, in the last 7 days — What is this, Jan Matejko week?
P.S. The current-location links are really slow, perhaps the site is undergoing maintenance.
