If you want swimming with sharks, Evie (and Alix), go with whale sharks.

Funny how the sound that Evie makes when typing is the exact word in Dutch. Typing is even called “tikken”! :-)

Kind of hard to believe after all her adventurous days, that’s her “first” time swimming in the ocean.

It is the ocean. It is just walled off to keep sharks out. The ocean water moves freely in and out. No pumps or filters. Since she is from Oregon the ocean is too cold to swim in without a wet suit. Despite what you see on Baywatch the Pacific Ocean is cold.

Really? Go to any beach south of Santa Barbara and you’ll see throngs swimming in the ocean with no wetsuit.

I said it was cold not that you cant swim in it. It is still too cold for me. But it is what you get used to. I know a woman who swims in the San Fransico bay everyday and when I was a kid I swam at lake Tahoe. Also last time I was there the suits the woman were wearing were definantly not for swimming.(not a complaint) Swim in the gulf or the southren coast of the Alantic and you will see what I mean.

It might depend a little on the time of year. I’ve swam in the Gulf of Mexico at Fort Myers, Florida, in June. It was warm like bathwater. I’ve never found the Atlantic shore to be warm.

I’ve never swam in the ocean. My family never took vacations or went anywhere. Sometime I have to make my way over to an ocean from Michigan.

I’m from the Northwest too, and I’ve never actually seen warm ocean water. My Californian wife tells me the currents change somewhere south of San Francisco and the ocean is warm beyond there.
