AND here in Arizona! We have no hurricanes or gaters (and we don’t need beaches with our own pools. This is mine:

I have no reason to go anywhere out of the valley (unless ALL my kids and grandkids decode to congregate somewhere for a week). I encourage them to do that here, but we had another wedding in 2012 (Chicago area) and the time before that was Bramson, MO (with tubing and fishing for the boys).

Scones? This must be from the British part of the “Union of South Africa” (as it was known when I was a kid) and not the Dutch part.

Let me tell you, Evie would LOVE it in Michigan’s upper peninsula. It’s sparsely populated, the people are friendly, the scenery is breathtaking, and you can see an array of wild animals like wolves, bear and otter on a routine occasion. And just like South Africa, I can’t believe people aren’t flocking there more.

Another interesting animal in Michigan’s upper peninsula, that I must confess I really like looking at is a large rodent called a North American beaver. They will dam up rivers and swim across ponds and slap the water hard with their tails. Evie is not the type interested in that, but what about Arnold? That’s the $64,000 question.

My wife is from the Soo. More people don’t flock to there is because it’s so fricking COLD!

(Michigan’s upper peninsula) “… you can see an array of wild animals llike wolves, bear and otter…”

    Otters I don’t mind…Wolves and Bear: now that’s a whole ‘nother story…that’s why I don’t live in Upper Michigan! ;)
