I’m sure Peoria"s. wonderful, but Joan was expecting Paris. And you have to admit that Peoria isn’t Paris. :)

The baby is hearing Joan’s voice in the telephone and is gonna start wailing! And THAT will lead to Joan wailing again over the phone. The snowball is just gathering steam!

Peoria isn’t Paris – you can understand what the rude natives are saying.

This will be a funny story to tell later. I can’t imagine why they still wouldn’t make it to Paris. They shouldn’t be grounded for too long. Otherwise, the airline will owe a lot of people a lot of money.

@C C Alexander: you are so right…. it would be like in the Paul Simon song: doesn’t speak the language, holds no currency.. .. she’d feel like cattle in the market place.
But… I’d really like to see how Paris – which is one of my favorite cities – would be pictured in this strip. So – I’m ready to be entertained, even if there is a constant whine-line through all panels.

Just thought of an old 78 record I used to listen to. This version’s from the Smothers Brothers – I chose it because the words are clearer here than in other versions, though the melody is a bit off and there’s no video:
It’s “Oh How I Wish I Was in Peoria” – I like the sound of the banjo bunch better, but they may be blackface (non P. C.) and the words are’t as clear – there’s a selection on yourube.

If you have time and aren’t stuck at the airport, find the nearest Steak ‘n Shake and have yourselves a very good burger. You won’t be disappointed.
