First vacation we ever had from our kids for a weekend, we went to themed hotel, like the Madonna Inn (google it), and stayed in the 50’s room, where the bed was half of a old car in front of a projector screen (like a drive in) … and slept soundly for the first 10 hours straight …

I have a feeling that Wally is gonna have to find the closest restroom and go “number 1”!! (Pe-oria…) Apologies to ‘Pearls’ readers…!
And after that they’ll have to Google this:

Madonna Inn – Been to the website, would LOVE to stay there. Most of me prefers very simple Zen-like decor, but a tiny part of me rejoices in overblown, over-the-top kitsch.

In the middle of Illinois there is a hotel with fantasy rooms http://www.sunsetinnandsuites.com/ Some are really cool looking. A friend said that one (the rainforest) is normally booked a full yr in advance.

Looks like Luci is fine without her mom (which is usually the way it works). The part that I find funny is the “old-fashioned” phone cord. Haven’t seen one of those in a while!

Can’t say that the photos of their fantasy suites do anything for me. But there’s far worse fantasy rooms, I’m sure.

I hope the emergency landing isn’t for long. It’s cutting into their Paris time.

Well, they’re only 2 /12 hours from Paris, Illinois. I say, make the best of it.

Fancy ring-a-dings, they called them in the 1970s. AT&T actually sold phones that resembled them, even if they had a rotary dial on the base. This was the decade before PCs et cetera, and the only video game out was Space Invaders. (Maybe Pong and Berserk too, but that was so long ago.)

…….. and the video games then were the size of pinball machines.
