Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

Cheaters ne’er prosper either, Holly.

As Lance Armstrong is finding out.

Politicians seem to be immune, though. JFK, LBJ & Clinton all cheated on their wives. Charlie Rangel and Barney Frank both came to congress without two suits to their name and both are now multimillionaires. How?

Newt Gingrich, Mark Sanford, John Ensign. And Mahatma Rushie has been married how many times? And came back from the Dominican Republic with a prescription for Viagra NOT in his name. Spare me the crocodile tears and comment on the strip for once. This is NOT an editorial cartoon.

I foresee some punishment coming which would be proper.

LOL It wouldn’t have mattered if someone told you, Holly. You still would have scoffed at them and learned the hard way.

Hmmm, sounds like Holly has earned another credit from the SHK [school of hard knocks] where the best instructor is experience.

Good or bad, if you are good enough, you can cheat without getting caught or penalized-at least in your useful lifetime. That’s the thing about good and bad- it is all relative to your belief system. Most humans do not deserve the money they have accumulated, therefore it is OK to remove it from them in any fashion you can.

Well, there’s the financial industry, Wall Street, politics, immigration line jumpers(undocumented), health providers who commit Medicare/Medicare fraud etc., they may get caught, but many continue to prosper.

I wonder what her punishment was. A failing grade only? Or will she be given the chance to redo the assignment with an automatic percentage deducted due to cheating the first time? Many days or weeks detention?

Nah, nah, nah…cheaters never prosper…unless you are a politician!!!

Generalizing from a limited sample … these are well known specific cases. You can draw any inferences you want, but I suggest that even if I added FDR to the list of cheating Presidents and that dufus from N.O. with money in the freezer, it still would not call for your comment. To criticize Hanoi Jane and Joan Baez for their politics is not to criticize all white females.
