Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

Which will it be, A) Ask for money to take everyone, or B) Ask her to babysit.
Place your bets…

You don’t get a romantic outing to Paris with kids on your trail. I bet on baby-sitting :) (we’re grandparents, so we have experience …!!!)

Are you kidding? It’s Paris, for pete’s sake…let them be
human just once. Ditch the kids and run.

Just don’t end up staying over there for three months.

I just did this! Although my kids are older than Max and Luci, my husband and I celebrated our anniversary in Paris this year. The first time traveling without kids (they stayed with friends bc we don’t have family nearby… do it and do it first class if you can!

Since these kids never get older, might as well take advantage before Evie heads off to Guatemala

It can be fun either with or without the kids. Discovered parts of Paris I never would have seen without the kids picking out things to do on the their days of the vacation. Also taking your teenage daughter to the Tower of London in England to see the queens jewels, gave her a great perspective on what to expect in jewlery from her now husband. Boy, does he hate me.

‘Evie’ like so many before me—Tell Wallie you’ll watch the kids because he asks for so little in return from the family for what he does and Joan does deserve it.

as long as it is not Paris Texas…….go for it.

Ah, I see. They’re going to skimp on the gifts to the kids – one present only – but take each other to Paris. That’s so going to make the kids so much happier about the slim pickings! Wally will be lucky if the kids don’t burn him in effigy on the lawn…
