Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

I hope they get to go without kids…this would
be like a honeymoon for them. They deserve
it. :-)

There goes the $50 limit or is Wally planning that they flap their arms.

Evie, she learned from you. You already know the answer to your first question.

Oh, just help them out! The kids are in school and sleeping most of the time anyway.
To several yesterday… Wally is NOT in the family that discussed limiting presents, so calm down. That was Val, Holly and Alix. Wally is married to Joan and have Max and Lucy. Besides, if Wally wants to spend his hard-earned money on a trip for he and Joan and less presents on his two kids, that’s his decision! He earned it, he decides how to spend it!

Val, Val, Val—you wanted to limit Christmas presents, right? So instead of spending money to buy your sister a present, you can just save money by caring for her children for two weeks or more! Think of the savings!

As a single working mother with her own 2 kids there’s no reason for Val to sign-on, especially since Evie is trying to con her into it. Hope she doesn’t cave on this.

Just say no. You’ll be suttubg with your own grandkids someday, so your mom can sit with hers.

So, Wally drops a hint to Evie. Evie now tries to pass the buck to Val. Any bets on whether it ends up being Holly and Alix doing the babysitting?
