Rose is Rose presents the extraordinary nature of everyday life as seen through the eyes of the Gumbo family. The strip stars child-at-heart Rose and her ASD (Attentiveness Surplus Disorder) husband Jimbo. Their gentle son Pasquale is watched over by his Guardian Angel who morphs from tiny cherub into gargantuan protector. Family kitten Peekaboo boasts that her humans are the cutest in town. Readers relish the romance in Rose and Jimbo's marriage, yet cheer the emergence of Rose's rebel alter ego, the fearless, wild and ready-to-roll Vicki the Biker

A cat talking to a fireplace… And some people think other people (pet-owners) are crazy to talk to their pets.

I feel sorry for 21st Century city cats who’ve never had a chance to curl up in front of an open fire …

If Peekaboo curls up in front of the open fire, she will be responsible for the roasting chestnuts.

But mine do get the opportunity to curl up in front of/up against oil heaters.

Mine get the real deal. I always have a fire in the fireplace when it gets cold. This one you see here is the worst. She gets so close to it that I always make sure the screen is tightly closed. There’s also a blower behind it with long vents on either side so it warms the room a lot quicker.

Here in central Florida, we love the winter weather – except for the more congested streets, jam-packed restaurants, etc.

Why? LOTS of homes still have open fireplaces. My home was built in 2000 and IT has an open fireplace. (But I don’t have a cat.)

When I was a kid, we had a wood stove, but the cats were supposed to be outdoor only and were there to keep the rodent population down. My cats now have no wood stove, but they’re indoors only and have central heating. I think they have it better.
