A long and overdue hike is wanted, yes. After all, who among the elephants is not of immigrant stock?

Coming to think of it, the elephant is the ideal symbol for the the 21st century GOP: only to be found in circuses and zoos, hard-headed, slow, loud and produces a lot of dung…

Kinda crazy when the left wing emperors/kings/tyrants are the ones pushing for an incredibly libertarian plan.

Legal Immigrant stock!!
Iluvnancy said, 4 months ago
@jonesb
Right, but in the past the impediments to being a legal immigrant were fewer and less stringent. Most of our forebears would not have been let in if the rules were the same as today.
It used to be if you were not sick with an infectious disease and had someone here who would sponsor you, you were in. By sponsor, it meant you had to have a place to stay and someone who would either get you a job or pay your way so you would not be a burden on society.
There was no welfare, there were no food stamps. Our hardy immigrants in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s were expected to take care of themselves and be productive.

Good luck with that, GOP.

They will be relevant only if they propose programs that help, not hinder people.

Ah how short is the memory of a libtard? Shorter apparently than their ‘you know whats’ obviously! Two years ago they got their arses handed to them and now the cretins think (?) the Grand Old Party is dead! None of socialist Obama’s grand schemes to further denigrate the Constitution are going to pass the House and in 2014 Democrats will get whomped just like 2010! Dream on donkies, dream on.

Can you prove it? I was born in America so I am an American Citizen but I can’t prove (As I have never had interest in genealogy) that somewhere in my family history there wasn’t an undocumented citizen, illegal alien, or whatever term you wish to apply. So can you prove that all Grand Oppressive Party members are of legal immigrant stock? Thought not, but it makes a good sounding lie.

I fear you are right, but not for the reasons you think. Instead it will be due to the ignorance of the voting populace (the republican dream a totally ignorant populace, it’s easier to control). Those who vote against their own self-interest will do so because they are brainwashed sheople stirred up with a fervor similar to 2010 with the tea (Take EVERYTHING Available, give NOTHING back) party. Those who are educated and involved will go out and vote, predominantly Democrat but they still will not be great enough in number to overcome the mindless shills following orders from their propaganda masters nor the apathetic voter who will simply stay home like they did in 2010. All we can hope is that they will remember the negative effect of their sloth then and be motivated to go out and vote and take back this government FOR the people, and corporations are NOT people my friends. If the republicans (in this instance the reTHUGlicans) can’t successfully suppress the vote or re-engineer the voting process, they are truly doomed. But there are enough weak minded dolts who will do what their party tells them to, simply because they are against the “uppity black man” in the WHITE house (regardless of whether or not they are overtly racist or not), that the republicans still have a modicum of power.
So if it is only by the power of the ill-informed, the uninformed and the alternate reality dwellers that the republican party still has any amount of relevance, who exactly is the “’tard” there skippy? Here’s a hint, it’s NOT the moderate conservative or liberal. It is far out there extremist crazy nut-jobs like you .

Obama could have passed meaningful immigration policy in his first term, but he didn’t. He didn’t because he needed to keep it as an open wound, as an issue to get elected a second term.
.
So now, senators have come together with a plan and obama steps in the middle of it, to oppose the senate’s border requirement.
Does that look like HE wants any kind of compromise? Democrats do not want border security.

@
Exactly.
I didn’t read his post, but I’ll bet he says the same thing here as every other time. Name calling and insults to Republicans and/or TEA Party and/or Conservatives. It’s long enough so he probably calls us racist somewhere in there too, another recurring theme.
.
He will tell us with venom how stupid we are and how exceptionally bright he is to “know” everything.
.
It will include the word reTHUGlicans or CONservatives or Baggers, or all 3 plus other “cutesy” immature name-calling
.
And there will be not one actual fact or reference to an actual fact.
.
I don’t need to read his posts. It’s always mean-spirited, nasty and negative. Who needs to read that crap every day.

Too funny how the racist republicans have to become tolerant of our Hispanic brothers and sisters. What’s next, being tolerant of a woman’s right to choose or a LGBT person’s right to marriage? Ha Ha love to see them backtracking on their racist hate program.

I hope you’re not getting your “information” from the same sources that predicted that “Romney landslide”.
