A long and overdue hike is wanted, yes. After all, who among the elephants is not of immigrant stock?

Kinda crazy when the left wing emperors/kings/tyrants are the ones pushing for an incredibly libertarian plan.

Right, but in the past the impediments to being a legal immigrant were fewer and less stringent. Most of our forebears would not have been let in if the rules were the same as today.

It used to be if you were not sick with an infectious disease and had someone here who would sponsor you, you were in. By sponsor, it meant you had to have a place to stay and someone who would either get you a job or pay your way so you would not be a burden on society.

There was no welfare, there were no food stamps. Our hardy immigrants in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s were expected to take care of themselves and be productive.

They will be relevant only if they propose programs that help, not hinder people.

I hope you’re not getting your “information” from the same sources that predicted that “Romney landslide”.

I am of immigrant stock. The difference is my people came to this country LEGALLY. They complied with the laws.

Oh you guys,,,,, no listenup. You make such a show of jumping to a conclusion and then calling it a long established fact. Conservatives want immigration reform. Yeah, really. WE do and always have.

The plan that Rubio articulated and that Obama says is good starts with the very thing that conservatives want the most. Border security. Yes, that is a sticking point. WE MUST close the border if we are ever going to actually solve the problem. It’s like a broken faucet. You don’t start taking the faucet off to replace washers and stop a leak BEFORE you turn off the water. Common sense right?

It then goes on to address “registration” (got to come into the light now so we know who and where you are), Paying a “fine” (yep you broke the law now let’s acknowledge that fact and make restitution) and identifying/punishing employers who hire illegals while giving them access to data banks that will make it easy for them to check status, among other things.

BUT, and you guys think about this, these were ALL part of the plan the FIRST time “amnesty” was granted. A repeat is NOT going to happen. Be prepared to start by closing the border.

And now you are free to revert to form and call me a racist, ignorant, redneck whatever….

as a Conservative, this is sickening.
the “Stupid Party” is again being suckered by a few Democrats, in the art of deception to get illegal immigrants legalized using a “Promise” of stronger enforcement of laws to arrest lllegals at the border or at job site, by “ICE”; and sent back where they came from. Reagan fell for it, got it in writing, and the Dems never allowed the Enforcement part of the law. Bush was suckered, and now the Boehner House GOP are being made fools of.
Obama in the White House will not allow HIS federal DOJ to enforce laws on the books or any new law, to send illegals home to where they came from!
This is totally unfair to those trying for lengthy periods of time to enter the USA as LEGAL IMMIGRANTS.
(I like Rush’s solution….legalize the 11 to 12 million illegals here today but require them to wait 25 years to legally VOTE!)

After this path has been trod for so many centuries, you would have thought intelligent legislators under intelligence presidents would have it down as an art – a piece of well orchestrated music resulting in a patriotic anthem.
    guess not.

it won’t work if it depends on the likes of Jan Brewer’s southwestern league,
I swear, she will never be pleased.
She about to change the Arizona law so she can be a governor still
and bend all the land to her will.
