I disagree. When I went to France for my honeymoon, I did my best to speak the language, which was rough at best. The people appreciated the effort, and would switch to English when they saw I had reached my understanding limit.
People like to report the French to be rude, but that is not the case at all when the first words out of your mouth aren’t, “Do you speak English?” Give a sincere try and they are very kind and friendly.
I’m guessing a steep, steep discount on the condo. Gus seems to be well enough off to give one of his properties to family, especially if that family will be around when he’s gone to “look after the kids.”
