   Jon made a similar joke to Garfield a number of years ago, can’t remember exactly when. That time, his punchline was “…although you are big enough for it to.” And Garfield’s reply was “One shot at a time, please.”

   I for one think the panels were spaced right. Gives the impression of good comedic timing.

   I always thought the “Jon as a a cartoonist” aspect had been left behind long, long ago, at least in the world of the daily strip. Kind of interesting that Jim Davis would bring it back now.

   Linus is a deep thinker and as such he is kind of scatterbrained (there was that memorable eggshell episode). So it’s fitting for him to do things like this.

   I can’t confirm it, but I seem to remember that Marcie called PP “sir” in her very last appearance; a sobering Sunday comic that ran in early 2000. …more obscure Peanuts trivia for the day.

    And let’s not forget Marcie (and a later character named Eudora), who called CB “Charles”

    As for Peppermint Patty, she seems to be generally clueless about a lot of things, which Schulz himself mentioned in one interview. So she would be the one to not realize Snoopy is a dog.
