    I don’t think that’s true, 425. The Seminole are two distinct tribes, one in Florida and the other in Oklahoma.

    Florida became a haven for escaped slaves very early, well before the Revolution, and when the Seminole, who had broken off from their original Creek traditions, began to gather there they were joined by communities of former slaves and their families. There was never enough intermarriage, however, to refer to the Seminole as a “mixed-race group.”

    Most of both groups were forcibly marched to “Indian Territory,” aka Oklahoma, in mid-19th century. Those who managed to remain in Florida fled to the Everglades.

    Today, the Florida Seminole Tribe is one of the wealthiest. They own, among other venues, the Hard Rock Cafe chain.

    All the examples above are of present participles, not gerunds. Only in Caulfield’s sentence, “I got a minor scolding,” do we see a genuine gerund.
