Ha, my dog couldn’t care less if I wash my hands after I rub his belly.

‘For Better or Worse’ had a similar gag about the dog being part of the family … and the mother telling the children to wash their hands after touching the dog.
Rather odd, as dogs have fewer germs than humans.

There was a Peanuts cartoon years ago in which Charlie Brown and Sally have just washed their hands for dinner. Then Charlie Brown stoops down to give Snoopy a pat on the head, at which point Sally says, “And you have to wash your hands again because you touched the dog!” Snoopy’s ears stand straight up and he thinks, “Touched the dog? Touched the dog!?! Good grief!”, and he begins to chase Sally around the house, thinking, “Here comes the bearer of filth and pestilence! Here comes the walking bubonic plague! Stay away from me!”

Wash your hands any how (Netilat Yadayim, hand washing before meals is a Jewish tradition).

One of my cats actually loves belly rubs and will roll over like Roscoe is doing. Of course, she can quite quickly decide that it is play time. My other 2 will let you know if they want a belly rub and when they do not (but not very kindly) :)

I’ve researched this thoroughly with a friend’s Maine Coon, we call it “Flower of Claws.”

we have a Tortuous Shell cat (black and red), we rescued when a neighbor moved-and wouldn’t let her son take his kitty (the mother just put the cat outside). we call her Cuddles-and she BEGS for belly rubs, and purrs up a storm when receiving one.

I’m kinda hoping you meant a tortoise shell cat….although a tortuous shell cat sounds interesting….

My big beautiful Maine Coon kitty walks ahead of me and then bellyflops on the floor. She adores belly rubs.

DeeDee, our Shepard mix, should have the middle name of ‘Trip Hazard’. She’ll do the same thing, but she’s three times the size of a Maine Coon.
