While it was 18 in redmond (probably killed the pumpkin crop) last night, the leaves have not yet dropped. These early/late winters of the last 4 years are the pits.

Earl likes to kick them a lot more than rake them.

Here in So. Cal. it is just the opposite from early/late winters… I think here, the pumpkin patch must be all boiled mush from the endless Summer heat…I guess they would be fine for pies…I used to love Autumn also, years ago when we had 4 seasons.

I live in S.C., and after 20 years down south, I am acutely, achingly missing the smells, sight and feels of the Ohio falls I grew up with. And I can’t afford to go up there.

Don’t rush it, Earl. The trees will all be bare before you know it.

Except for the backwards politics in SC, I’d trade you any time for the Pennsylvania falls and winters.
We also had no winter in PA last year. Normal highs are in the upper 30s and low 40s, but we saw 50s and 60s. There were only 3 “snowstorms” – all three only had a 3" snowfall, and the earliest one was on October 28. It’s rare to see a measurable snowfall before Halloween here.

A little anxious, are we?

Why hurry, you just have to rake them up…

I noticed yesterday that I was shuffling through the leaves on my way home for the first time.
Today the forecast calls for rain, so I took the car to work.

Still waiting for Fall here in N. Calif. Leaves are green and winter birds are late.
