Good time to locate and secure your firearms too…
a child is 16 times more likely to die by accidental shooting in this country than in other high-income nations. Toddlers were more likely to shoot themselves, while older children were more likely to be shot by someone else. Most of the shootings — 84 percent — occurred at home or in the family car.

It was a July 2 Quinnipiac University Poll where those polled voted Obama the worst president. Ever. Republicans see Obama as a lawbreaker and a violator of the Constitution who must be removed from office by the Congress. Democrats see President Obama someone who has done the best anyone possibly could against an opposition that used the filibuster for two years, then a combination of the filibuster and a Republican House to stop all Obama’s attempts to exercise his lawful authority as chief executive of the US.

Of course, a poll July 3 said that starting the Iraq war was terrible and ending it was good, which seems to contradict the July 2 poll (although the July 2 poll did find that Bush, jr was in 2nd place for Worst President).

Which brings up Nobel Laureate Kenneth Arrow’s proof that all rankings by voting are irredeemably flawed. Prof Arrow’s proof was purely theoretical, so it’s nice that we have solid empirical evidence of its validity (and that the Nobel committee was right, at least about Arrow’s prize).

Voters with less maturity than your average three-year-old don’t help. They’re easily manipulated with radical rhetoric, and don’t have the patience to do their homework and search out truths.

Just when you think getting rid of Cantor would be good thing, you have him replaced by a squirrel on PCP. As bad, and childish as Boehner has gotten, who, or what, would the radical right replace him with?

In Iraq, and elsewhere, it’s interesting to see “the radical right” AND “radical left” condemning Obama, for continuing Bush policies more vociferously than where he’s diverging.

May you live in “interesting times”.

Next you’re going to try tell us that Nancy Pelosi is sane. And that Harry Reid is not a senile old man.

^Just a note: I’ve said dozens of times here that I also don’t like Pelosi or Reid and their failed “leadership”, but Boehner’s just gone nuts.

Phil Hands drew a very apt, poignant ’toon for the occasion. (I love the way he drew Boehner!)

The founding fathers had many deep faults also, including dramatic personal arguments.
The lesson from history is great things happen when we reach compromise forged out of the fire of debate.
