    I used to buy a few boxes a year, but now that they’ve teamed up with the baby-killing factory Planned (non)Parenthood, I will not buy a single cookie.
    Sorry girls, blame your liberal leaders.

    Some of the girl scout leadership have expressed support for Wendy Davis, more than enough reason not to buy the cookies (in addition to those who say sugar is poison).

    Do girl scout cookies actually contain sugar, or do they instead contain high fructose corn syrup? They might be decent tasting cookies, but they contain the same low grade industrialized ingredients as most other mass produced cookies. That is the major reason I haven’t bought them in several years.

    I don’t care what anyone says. I rather support the young girls who are growing up into strong women. Two boxes of Thin Mints, please

    Just because some nitwits are afraid of strong, confident GIRLS — not even women — is no reason to quit supporting the Girl Scouts.
    Most of what is being said about them negatively is simply wrong.

    There is something about using the Girls Scouts in political arguments that just feels wrong.

    3: I am pro choice, pro planned parenthood (I gave them money), pro contraception (paid for by taxes if necessary) and pro comprehensive sex education. However, I don’t need the calories.

    Hmmm, thanks for the idea CC. I usually buy a box or two. This year, I’ll squeeze the allowance I give myself, out of my hard earned paycheck, to buy at least 3 more boxes of Girl Scout cookies, perhaps 4. King Soopers usually lets them set up a table in front. They can be stored in the freezer for longer periods of time.

    This reminds me of the Chik Filet (sp?) drama. When one of the bigwigs over there made some comment about homosexuals, everyone on the left went nuts. I recall reading a lot of comments about how the chicken there is awful, etc. And then of course the right overreacted in kind.
    I remember that the business for Chik Filet around here actually increased for quite some time as righties showed solidarity.

    Now we have the mirror image. The righties are all upset by some head honchos comment. The lefties are reacting. Bet sales of Girl Scout Cookies go up.

    I’m figuring somebody in the Girl Scout’s marketing department dreamed all this up. Now we’ll start seeing companies ‘market by outrage’. The CEO of Pepsi will make a rude comment about the NRA. Or maybe Tony the Tiger will come out against lesbians. Whatever. if you let the media make your spending and political decisions for you, you deserve what you get.

    “Classic Coke” almost fits this theory.
    Go SodaStream.

    I’ve never been asked to buy girl scout cookies by actual girl scouts. It’s usually coworkers hanging around the break room with their forms giving you the guilt trip.

    @ConserveGov

    Oh please. Children have their basic personality formed and their little minds shaped by their parents before the school system/clubs/organizations get them.

    Well, if you bother to interact with them at all.

    They’re like little ducks. The “imprint” what YOU DO. From language to social interaction.

    Scouting is a positive influence. Fund raising is a part of life that will benefit them forever. You know, teaching them to work for profit. Very capitalistic and all.

    Even YOUR opinion and the result of turning them away at the door is a life lesson well learned.

    ME? I got one of each. Fat man that I am…..

    @DrCanuck's Little Sister

    I would buy them at the office from my coworkers to make them happy. When they delivered them, I would open them up and leave them in the break room. They were usually gone with 30 minutes.

    I will buy cases in order for young women to be educated and able to properly care for themselves with affordable cancer screenings and birth control ( to prevent pregnancy in the first place).
