    Do foxes like catnip? Heck, my cat (named Millie, not a coincidence) doesn’t like catnip.

    Trouble with the whole ‘Power to the People’ routine is that the power usually never went to the people.

    My cat is kinda weird in that she eats catnip as a vegetable. Doesn’t do any of the crazy stuff cats often do. So, I give her a couple of leaves shredded up for her digestion. Have had lots of fun trying to keep the neighbor cats from rolling in the catnip. Put wire around it and thought that was that. Then, yesterday, I found a cat was somehow shoving his head through the wires and chowing down. Don’t mind that too much; it’s the rolling that kills the plants.

    The president has a fair amount of power. That power is limited, though, and it’s deliberate, being a check on power to prevent despotism. He can veto congress and has day to day control over the executive branch. Executive orders are not legislation (both Clinton and Obama have tried to change that) but they do allow for operations of Executive branch agencies within the framework of the laws Congress passed.
    .
    One of my proposals for cleaning up a department would have required the permission of Congress to go back to the pre-1993 system where every Federal employee was expected to meet basic standards for degrees appropriate to their position, time in grade, etc. And, because most of the Federal government was given their jobs for affirmative action reasons, with the individuals therein thus not bothering to get the appropriate degrees like engineering or physics, a proposal to give them 3 years to get the appropriate degree and rehire rights when they did. IF they did. I would guess that most would not, because of the sheer amount of work in science and engineering degrees. Since AA rewards laziness, most probably wouldn’t take advantage of that, but no doubt some would. It would be a way of separating those who were not interested in doing their jobs from those who wanted to do their jobs but had been promoted way past their background education.

    Foxes probably don’t like catnip. Rats say away from the stuff.

    On TvTropes, Millie is listed under the trope “Cute Fangs” which is true, when she opens her mouth up wide, especially close ups.

    I don’t think the people really WANTS the power, because it comes with too much responsibility, and seriously, who wants that?

    @Scyphi

    Some want power and don’t care who the hurt so the responsibility is ignored.
