    This is a learned art that only children can perfect. Some of them, if they are lucky ( and we aren’t ) seem to carry it through to adulthood with great aplomb !

    Selective hearing… or practiced ignoring. I’m not sure… I’ve used them both interchangeably over the years as situations called for.

    The secret to getting past the ignore filter is to 1) Pull the plug on the tv. and 2) whisk the child away to their bedroom mouthing the words, Good Night, Sweet dreams for school
    tomorrow, and then shut the door..
