Nancy was created by Ernie Bushmiller in the 1930s. Since 1995, the strip has been drawn and written in Bushmiller's classic style by Guy and Brad Gilchrist. Nancy is famed for its gentle humor and surrealistic sight gags. Nancy's childlike innocence never wavers. She remains a devoted friend to her pal Sluggo, and can be, depending on the situation, a conceited prima donna or a fun-loving, cute and cheeky little girl.

Whoa, I think I actually saved Ernie Bushmiller’s rendition of Nancy and Sluggo’s first meeting when you ran a ‘History of the Strip’ so many years ago!

Dear Guy:
Former NYC Mayor Ed Koch died last night at age 88.
And while it’s doubtful that any of the citizens of Three Rocks had ever heard of him, it would be nice if some day you did a tribute in his memory.
Thank you in advance.

the world lost some greats back in 59 when those three died. Ritchie may have only been 17 but he is still well remembered as are JP and Buddy!

Who’s J.P. Buddy & Richie? Am I supposed to know them?
richardkel said, 4 months ago
@Wolf Emperor
J.P. (Big Bopper) Richardson, Buddy Holly, and Ritchie Valens. They all were killed in a plane crash on February 3, 1959-The day the music died.

So Sluggo came to Nancy’s rescue. I’ll enjoy the tribute to Buddy, Ritchie, and the Big Bopper. That’s the day the music died.

That boy is nearly a teenager. Sure she can suck it up with an ax to cut him down to size.
