Do we have William Jefferson Clinton’s wedding vows captured on tape for posterity anywhere? Words are tools.

I voted for Obama in 2008, I voted against Romney in 2012. I am very disappointed with this administration. At this point, even if Mr. Obama was unaware and against these actions, he looks negligent or incompetent. If he was aware of the IRS probes, the broad search of journalists’ resources, and the other stories that are surfacing every few days, then he looks corrupt.
The fact that the Republicans have been major obstructionists since 2008 is insult to injury. The fact that the Democrats have been, for lack of a better word, stupid in the way they dealt with their republican colleagues is stupefying.
Our gov’t is more broken than it has been since the civil war. Our leaders have forgotten that true leadership comes from setting examples, not giving orders. They are uncivil, greedy, egocentric, and legends in their own minds.
When we fail to be civil to one another, when we allow extremists to divide us and turn us against one another, then democracy loses, and we take another step toward something worse.

Words are weapons in some minds, and are not to be used when there is a chance of striking the innocent by accident. If the parallel between freedom to bear arms and freedom to speak isn’t obvious already, just set a bit and wait and it will all be made clear.

“Every issue, small or large, gets blown up to a hysterical outrage regardless of its importance”
    Well, THAT’s just wrong.
Large issues of actual importance get swept under the rug and hushed up because there are no quick fixes or easy solutions in the real world.
You might see people concerned about “immigration” or about “PEDs” in baseball, but nobody is going to address the business climate or the porous border because you can’t fix it in twenty minutes on a political sitcom with a $50 bill. They will holler about this and that, but actual problems are off limits for discussion except by lunatic fringe fanatics.

    A) He’s not doubled spending. The deficit has decreased every year Obama’s been in office.

    B) Obama did not get the tax hikes he wanted – he got about a third of them.

    C) Obama had already done several rounds of cuts without any tax increases before that point.

    D) If you want to go on percentages, Reagan nearly quadrupled the national debt in his two terms, a feat that has yet to be equaled in peace time.

So… You’re better off, as are we all, than you were in 2007 then? The world is a better, safer place? Costs have gone down? Availability and affordability of the basics of life, food, shelter, medical care and transportation have become common to all? The wounds of racial strife are healed and the tax code is mended and education now turns out kids with a 12th grade education from the 12th grade? Not bad for only five years in office then.

So Ansonia spreads a lot of factually wrong data, I correct some of it, and you respond with an over-the-top straw man? May work in high school debating club, but not real life.

Another fact – in terms of “growing govt spending”, Obama, Clinton, and Eisenhower grew it the least. In peacetime, Reagan grew it the most.

I’m better off than I was in 2008, for sure. The price of gas has gone down since then. Much of Al Qaeda’s leadership has been tagged since then, so you could say the US is safer. The rest of your straw man is blather that’s been problematic for decades.
