Thereby pointing out that no matter how much you like the lady, if she hasn’t taught you, she has robbed you of your time and the taxpayer of what they are spending money to provide you.
    .
If this keeps up, you’ll be in school for twenty years more and still not know anything important.

I had an English teacher who was brilliant. We stuffed around and had heaps of fun but one day I was hit by the realisation that she’s gotten us to do all our work still.

I had an American History teacher that was strict in his class, also funny, loved his job, and only wanted his students to learn. He was easy to sidetrack with questions, and in the end I learned alot from him and he will always remain my favorite teacher.
I would guess that even the goof offs in his class learned more than they thought they would and still look back on him with a smile. “hail Alvin”

But you could remember learning. Such does not seem to be the case here.

My father was in school during WWII.
    .
To distract the teacher from classwork, they’d ask him how the war was going.
    .
The teacher would show them where the armies and navies were operating, what the geography, climate and culture was like and how it affected troop movements, et cetera.
    .
They came to realize they had learned geography, history, earth science, economics, math, world cultures, all the things they were supposed to learn and then some, all set against the background of survival and necessity.

Ms. Phelps has not changed much in appearance over the years.

The teachers from whom I learned the most WERE “fun”. More than that, they were challenging, passionate about their subject, and ENGAGING. Engaging students is key.

The one teacher I had that was excellent was in biology. Loved going to her classes.

I had a really strict science teacher who seemed like he could be easily led on a tangent. Looking back I realize we could only lead him off if he was ahead on his scheduled plans and wanted to spend time talking about something else, sometimes his choice, sometimes ours. He was a great, fun, caring teacher who expected all of us to succeed, and treated us as though we were capable of learning. I still talk to a few old classmates who only remember him as mean.
