Are you saying that there were only two choices, the horrid cromnibus or shutting down the government? If so, you are as bereft of ideas as most members of Congress.
Many of us saw a number of alternatives. The fact that they were not considered does not make them invalid, it only make it more apparent that Congress is unwilling to do the heavy lifting that they get paid very well to do.
