Unfortunately the once great state of California is now just run by limousine liberals and their freeloading base.

The thinking mans Democrat (yes, I know that’s an oxymoron).

Yup, California is a liberal taker state despite paying out more in federal taxes than receiving in federal benefits. Good, wholesome, conservative states like Mississippi, Alabama, New Mexico, and West Virginia are giver states despite receiving two to three times as much money in federal benefits as they pay in federal taxes.

The real problem is both sides are focused on getting re-elected and keeping their influential positions rather that actually solving the important, difficult problems that need to be addressed.

and yet you are a proponent of making sure those with little resources and little chance to change that fact get all the help from the feds that they need.

In order for CA to be the leading donor to the funds – as you say – there must be a lot of money being generated in the state.

    Silicon cash

    hollywood cash

    marijuana cash

    Lettuce cash (redundant?)

    citrus cash

Oh my tons of ways to make cash.

And so taxes are paid as any good loyal citizen must.

Want to move some of that cash to Mississippi, Alabama, New Mexico or West (by God) Virginia?

Oh that’s right the Feds are doing just that via poverty programs that you support.

So tell me again what the problem is?

Oh yeah… local government can’t seem to find a way to use that cash machine to balance a budget……………..hmmmmmm

Californians and New Yorkers rarely complain about supporting poor red states, many of which are suffering under misguided Republican government. But the Red states do nothing but complain that their taxes are too high, despite the fact that they depend very heavily on taxes from blue states, who are generally better off, due largely to better policy decisions made by Democrats. This is not partisan speculation. It’s the facts on the ground. Mississippi is about to elect a senator who has sworn to cut Federal spending, despite the fact that 43% of the income of Mississippians comes straight from the Federal Government.

There are some conservative posters here, who have a real problem accepting empirical facts when it goes against their partisan beliefs.
    .
Put another way, they have no problem rejecting inconvenient facts because, well… they just know.

Yeah……my take on the comment from you and Arod……well….. Dude’s why is it that you automatically jump to taking away true poverty assistance as the only way someone can possibly want to cut federal spending?

How about not funding an airport that only has one flight a month?

Or maybe we can forgo Moroccan pottery classes.

It isn’t like our illustrious congresscritters don’t know where waste is but gee it’s like any addiction once hooked on “free money” it’s hard to quit.

And he is just one man out of 535 so called representatives of the people…..

And let’s not even talk about the defense budget

Or even the excessive use of taxpayer provided transportation from the top down.

But in your mind, the only thing a conservative can possibly want is to cut medicaid/food stamps. (though there is abuse of foodstamps check out that report from coburn)

    1) I’ve read on these fora time and time again about how liberals are lazy welfare takers and conservatives are hard workers pulling themselves by their own proverbial bootstraps. The numbers suggest it’s a crock.

    2) While I support welfare, it should be structured to get people trained and working in better jobs to lift them out of poverty. Neither party is serious about ending poverty. One side seems to prefer just treating the symptoms, while the other side seems to prefer just ignoring it altogether.

    3) As for California’s finances, my understanding they’ve had that issue since Prop 13. I recall when Schwarzenegger was running for governor, he asked Warren Buffett what to do about improving the state’s finances. Buffett told him to end Prop 13, which Schwarzenegger refused to even consider.

Minimum wage jobs are for part-time students and unskilled entry-level workers.
Once the students graduate, they will then get a job that is more than minimum wage.
Unskilled Entry-level workers will either receive a pay raise through hard work or will procure another job based on their experience.
NOT A SINGLE WALMART EMPLOYEE IS PAID MINIMUM WAGE!
That’s right, the supposedly “greediest, most exploitive company in the world” pays more than minimum wage.
Companies pay more for dependable employees since it’s actually cheaper than having high turnover.
Companies that don’t are constantly losing employees since those workers realize they can earn more.
These are basic truths in Capitalism and if you don’t like those truths, there are plenty of socialist countries that will take you.
