How’s about a big black barrel labeled HOSPITALBILLS for all the thousands and thousands of gunshot wounds treated in the Nation’s emergency rooms. Oh, wait. There’s no record of those: the NRA had the records expunged. No problem then. Keep shooting, Lisa; you’ll hit something.
Expunged? Just how does that happen? How is it possible for a private entity to expunge health care statistics. Or is that just what you were told to believe while watching MSNBC?

When a bullet hits the skin surface, it causes indentation before perforation. Following perforation, elasticity causes the skin to recoil, and the resulting round, circular defect is of a slightly smaller diameter to that of the bullet. An accurate estimation of the calibre size cannot therefore be made from measuring the radius of the wound, unlike in the movies!
The NRA successfully lobbied to not only deny funding for, but to outright prohibit the appropriate agencies from collecting or compiling data ans statistics regarding firearm related injuries, crimes, deaths. Some data is available but not much. Most of it is prohibited by law and for the express reason of preventing the true scope fo the problem from being known because the NRA feared that information would be used to enact rational, reasonable gun crime control measures. So once again your screenname is apropos, maybe not quite far enough, closedminded. If you truly sought the truth you would know this already and I would not need to tell you. If ignorance is bliss, then you must be one very happy soul.

To use the easiest comparative that the gun-nuts seem to like to trot out until it is used against them to demonstrate their hypocrisy, let’s compare these suppositions to automobiles Taxes – sales tax & gasoline tax, just to name two Insurance – required in most states to get a license plate Registration – license plates aren’t free. I’ll be spending $350 today to renew 3 plates (2 personal, 1 corporate) Fees – parking, tolls, just to name two Permits – ever hear of a driver license? Or some areas require a parking permit Bans – some areas do not allow motorized vehicular traffic. Yep, once again the poor get stepped on. Only the rich will be able to drive to work to pay for their homes and support their families.
Mix a snifter of Bill Mauldin, a dash of Jeff McNelly and a very large dollop of common sense, and you begin to get an idea of Lisa Benson’s considerable talent.
