So ok, Harley, we all know how much you hate Democrats, liberals, Obama, Carter (and the list goes on)… WTF would you do differently? Have a parade of tanks and missiles? Invade western Ukraine? Start a new Cold War? Sail the fleet into the Black Sea? C’mon, let’s hear it, tough guy.
    .
Some people seem to have a problem separating their desire to overthrow the government in general and hating this Administration in particular. So what do you and your ranks of Obama haters have to offer?

    “Blessed are the peacemakers.”

What kind of hippie claptrap is this? I know NO ONE should listen to THIS guy.

(In reality, almost no one does. Many claim to, many believe they do. But their actions don’t show it.)

But back to the subject at hand……

When faced with a confrontation, there are only two major choices: peace and war. Now there are subcategories for peace, such as sanctions, trade embargoes, restricting necessary supplies, etc.

Or you could send in the troops, which is the opposite of keeping the peace. (Except for those who feel that peace is so important that they are willing to go to war to preserve it.)

Whether Hillary Clinton is stupid in your opinion, or whether John Kerry has truly earned his medals is totally off the subject. You seem to be letting your oft-stated hatred for everything and anything remotely linked to the Obama administration steer you away from this simple distinction.

I hope this helps to clarify for you.

Well stated. Although there will be some who believe that the vote was rigged, and they may be right.

“Interesting though that even though leftists that ask that question know that Obama is incompetent, yet they turn to conservatives to ask what he should do.”

I see your point, and appreciate it. I’d like to present a different point of view. As I stated above: you have two major choices…war or peace. Many “leftists” and a number of centrists believe that you have to pick your battles. We also note that our military is worn out from our “adventures” in the middle east. Our treasury will not support a war with Russia, and our people are weary of war with no end point and wary of getting into the same trick bag again, especially with a country as intransigent and unwilling to compromise as Russia. (Remember, both our countries are so stubborn that it took each more than 10 years to realize what a quicksand trap Afghanistan is). So, whether we feel Mr. Obama is incompetent or not, in this particular instance, we believe a peaceful solution is better.

However, “rightists” continually scream for him to do something else. It follows logically that the next question should be: “What ‘something else’ are you suggesting?”

I hope that helps you understand the reasoning behind the question.

Compare what the Obama administration has managed to organize in the wake of this latest Russian aggression to the Bush administration’s response to Putin’s actions in Georgia in 2008. That was a blatant invasion. Moscow sent in tanks and heavy artillery; hundreds were killed, nearly 200,000 displaced. Yet the response was essentially nothing. This time, it has been much more serious. Some of this difference is in the nature of the stakes, but it might also have to do with the fact that the Obama administration has taken pains to present Russia’s actions in a broader context and get other countries to see them as such.
    .
You can see a similar pattern with Iran. The Bush administration largely pressured that country bilaterally. The Obama administration was able to get much more effective pressure because it presented Iran’s nuclear program as a threat to global norms of nonproliferation, persuaded the other major powers to support sanctions, enacted them through the United Nations and thus ensured that they were comprehensive and tight. This is what leadership looks like in the 21st century.
