I’d like to play Kerry at poker. He’s so obvious when he’s lying: body language, faux precision, etc., etc.

Back when I was studying the trivium, elementary rhetoric discussed the signs of lying, and Kerry’s speeches about bombing Syria have all of them.

So what! Our military has no current plans to put any American troops into any danger over Syria. There are no plans for “boots on the ground”, there are not even any plans to have piloted fighters over flying Syria as the Naval ships being sent have no aircraft carriers among them, just missile ships. So the only attack is going to either consist of cruise missiles, or RPV’s. This means that Assad and his military knowing our moves is not in the slightest bit going to help him or his military. That guy behind the other tree is hiding a Smith & Wesson .500 caliber Magnum Handgun in his other hand, that is quite capable of both penetrating Assad’s tree, and Assad as well!!

Whatever happened to all of the ultra conservative types that were screaming that we actually invade Iraq back in the GW Bush era, to stop Saddam from doing the same thing that evidently Assad has done to his own people? Hello, Hello, where are you??

As they did when a dry-drunk, and recovering druggie, was at the helm?

I suppose the right wing still wants to bomb Iran.

I agree. At best, we weaken Assad’s military enough to somewhat level the playing field, which will assure that the fighting will not stop.
At worst, fighting spreads to neighboring Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq. Then our leaders say that when they had promised “no boots on the ground”, they didn’t foresee the conflict spreading, and now can’t be held to their promise.

Of course! You’ll notice the knee-jerk righties on this post echo a lot of the crap coming out of FOX News, who are still hyping the bomb-Iran meme – most recently (Sept 5th) with chickenhawks Sean Hannity and Allen West salivating over bombing Iran (“We should go all out and attack Iran”), while sliming the President on any and all issues.

It’s the US GOP that’s helping Assad. Anything to oppose the President, whether it’s in the country’s interest or not. There’s a word for that type of behavior.

Faux, faux, faux… Liberals sound like mynah birds. If they were honest, they would concede there hasn’t been a liberal reporter on ANY lame stream media circuit that isn’t critical of Obama’s non-plan. Even Chris “tingle leg” Matthews is critical of Obama’s policy. To paraphrase the Walter Cronkite quote: “If Obama loses Chris Matthews, Obama loses the American Left”.

Chris Matthews Slams Obama’s ‘Disastrous’ Syria Plan: ’We’ll Be Killing Poor People’

Chris Matthews: Obama put Democrats in a ‘wicked position’ on Syria

No, sonny! Criticizing mistakes is not “wrong”. And, the very big mistake of “drawing a red line” – ANYWHERE in the Middle East, where we have no business in the first place! – is fully well open to criticism. However. To criticize is one thing. To advocate a form on “nation-suicide” is quite another. And, the very notion of just turning loose bombs, and other weapons, – again, ANYWHERE in the Middle East, where we have no business in the first place! – is, in and of itself, a very serious mistake.

There was – and still is, for that matter – a LESSON in our method of handling Iraq, as well as an additional LESSON to be found in our present handling of Afghanistan. That LESSON is, simply: WE, as Americans, have no business meddling in the internal conflicts among religious fanatics ANYWHERE! But, of course, the ravenous, slavering at the mouth, rabid Rivers-of-American-Blood-and-Plenty-of-Body-Bags Republicans are also adamant about NOT LEARNING – and, if at all possible, NEVER LEARNING – that lesson. Especially is the Republicans can have another WAR!.

Criticize all you want. But, that’s always a 2 way street. And the mistakes of the past can haunt, just as well as those in the present – even more so, if repeated with the idiotic notion that doing the same damn fool thing over, and over, and over, and . . . again, and again, and again, and . . . is going to bring, somehow, someway, different results. There is a definition for that kind of behavior; and the Republicans are certainly becoming “well defined” by it.

Show us, or anyone where Assad used chemical weapons. Yes they are there, Saddam sent them to get them out of Iraq, but Assad didn’t use them. The rebels set em off by accident. Why would Assad want to have all this trouble?

So the bar is chemical weapons? You can kill thousands with bullets, bombs, and machetes but not with gas? seems dumb.

Where are Sean Penn, Susie Sarandon, Tom Hanks, Michael Moore and the rest? These folks in Syria not good enough when they get killed?
