Morin got it right: Syria is having a War.

The US and European MSM (except maybe the Manchester Guardian) report that Assad has murdered more than 100,000 innocent Syrians personally, and the US has the absolute duty and obligation to step in and end the slaughter.

The Syrians I know say it’s a War: Syria is part of the Fertile Crescent, and there are a bunch of heads of states slavering to get a piece if it. Combatant nations currently include Saudi Arabia, which sent a large mercenary army that’s losing; Qatar, which sent a large mercenary army that was defeating the Saudis (who had to ask Obama for help, so he had the Qatar sheikh replaced by a more compliant son); the Syrian Army; Hezbollah; and a small contingent of anti-Assad Syrians.

Iran and Russia are trying to support the Syrian Army. Britain, France, and the US are trying to support the Saudi Army of mercenaries, and they assure us that the atrocities committed by the anti-Assad forces and shown on YouTube were all committed by the Qatari mercenaries.

Vietnam started under Truman when the US sent intelligence agents to undermine the French and Ho (cf. The Quiet American by Graham Greene). The French were supported by about 40% of the Vietnamese, but the US wanted to end all the European Mercantile Empires. Ho was supported by 60% of the Vietnamese, and by the USSR and Mao’s China, and the US had to stop Communist expansion or the domino effect would have meant a hammer and sickle flying over the White House and queues for bread throughout the US.

So the US decided to support a tiny, weak, corrupt group of Christians. And we saw how well that turned out, so we have to continue this proud American tradition in Syria (but at least this time, we’re supporting a tiny, corrupt group of Saudi-backed Muslims, not Vietnamese Christians, so we’re not making the same mistake)!

You’re right about that. More than 1 million Syrian refugees. As the mercenaries march through the villages, they kill anyone who isn’t a Sunni, and the government forces bombing and shelling the mercenaries are killing everyone still stuck in the villages. Any Syrian who can is trying desperately to get out.

And the US is sending in CIA agents to support the Saudi mercenaries, as Britain, France, and Saudi Arabia have asked.

Which is NOT making things better for the Syrian villagers.

(But then, this was never about helping the Syrian villagers.)

Morin is talking about Chicago, a City with extremely strict Gun laws and one of the highest rates of blacks killing blacks with guns daily.

Before you state: “But people find ways around Chicago’s Gun Laws”, stop and think about your statement when you push for stricter Gun Laws Nationwide, they will not work as people will find away around the stricter gun laws.

Some more of the usual war-mongering, Right-wingnut nonsense, trying to drum up another venture into someone else’s country, to “solve” someone else’s ages old problems. The Sunni and Shiite factions of Mohammedism have been at each other’s throats for about 1200 years now; and, in another 1200 years, they’ll still be killing each other every chance they get.

Dumb as they are, even the English caught on to the futility of trying to “solve” that internal mess. And, having finally awakened to the uselessness of intervention in the Middle East, the English, nicely and neatly, “handed off” to the United States; and now we are supposed to “take up” the . . . whatever . . . and become “World Police”.

And, sure enough, even in America we have those Generals who go on record with comments such as: “War is wonderful; and shooting people is fun”, as was quoted in the Denver Post not too long ago as coming from a Marine Corps Commander. Too bad that Americans are not, regularly and consistently, reminded of what one of the outstanding Generals in the Civil War had to say: “War is HELL!”

But then again, for the Right-wingnut, reactionary, regressive, racist Republican Party, what better way to deal with the whole matter of American politics: Just round up the young, ship them off to some desolate foreign hell-hole, where they will be targets for suicide bombers, et.al.; and call it “Patriotic Duty” to bleed and die? Then the greedy-gutted old soaks can get on with looting everything they can get their hands on, and rule to ruin as they choose.

Again with the same argument: criminals don’t obey laws, therefore there is no value in having them. So, let’s wipe all laws off the books. I have no intention of murdering someone, so it doesn’t matter if murder is illegal. However, criminals will murder whether there are laws against it or not. Same for robbery, rape, drunk driving…..and look how much money we could save if we didn’t convict anyone and jail them.

Please explain how my contention differs from yours, if you can. I am sure you must see something that I don’t.

Be careful- some politicians may latch on to that idea, then brag about how they brought the crime rate down.

    @DrCanuck,
Which would apply here, IF either of the “viewers” were actually “looking” at each other from the same – or even a reasonably similar – “viewpoint”. Unfortunately, however, they aren’t, they don’t, and they can’t.

For most Western peoples, “Law(s)” are part of the whole CULTURAL development, changing, and/or made applicable, or repealed, as the culture grows and changes. For most of the Middle Eastern peoples, however, “Law(s)” are absolute, having been handed down as “Sharia”, written in Mohammed’s mythology book; and, therefore, are absolutely unchangeable, always applicable – whether or not the entire structure of the very environment changes or not – and NEVER TO BE “REPEALED”, even when they have become so obsolete as to be ridiculous.

The Taliban is NOT a form of “exception” in Mohammedism. Rather, it is, in REALITY, the true fundamentalism of the RULE.
