Morin got it right: Syria is having a War.

The US and European MSM (except maybe the Manchester Guardian) report that Assad has murdered more than 100,000 innocent Syrians personally, and the US has the absolute duty and obligation to step in and end the slaughter.

The Syrians I know say it’s a War: Syria is part of the Fertile Crescent, and there are a bunch of heads of states slavering to get a piece if it. Combatant nations currently include Saudi Arabia, which sent a large mercenary army that’s losing; Qatar, which sent a large mercenary army that was defeating the Saudis (who had to ask Obama for help, so he had the Qatar sheikh replaced by a more compliant son); the Syrian Army; Hezbollah; and a small contingent of anti-Assad Syrians.

Iran and Russia are trying to support the Syrian Army. Britain, France, and the US are trying to support the Saudi Army of mercenaries, and they assure us that the atrocities committed by the anti-Assad forces and shown on YouTube were all committed by the Qatari mercenaries.

Vietnam started under Truman when the US sent intelligence agents to undermine the French and Ho (cf. The Quiet American by Graham Greene). The French were supported by about 40% of the Vietnamese, but the US wanted to end all the European Mercantile Empires. Ho was supported by 60% of the Vietnamese, and by the USSR and Mao’s China, and the US had to stop Communist expansion or the domino effect would have meant a hammer and sickle flying over the White House and queues for bread throughout the US.

So the US decided to support a tiny, weak, corrupt group of Christians. And we saw how well that turned out, so we have to continue this proud American tradition in Syria (but at least this time, we’re supporting a tiny, corrupt group of Saudi-backed Muslims, not Vietnamese Christians, so we’re not making the same mistake)!

You’re right about that. More than 1 million Syrian refugees. As the mercenaries march through the villages, they kill anyone who isn’t a Sunni, and the government forces bombing and shelling the mercenaries are killing everyone still stuck in the villages. Any Syrian who can is trying desperately to get out.

And the US is sending in CIA agents to support the Saudi mercenaries, as Britain, France, and Saudi Arabia have asked.

Which is NOT making things better for the Syrian villagers.

(But then, this was never about helping the Syrian villagers.)

“stop and think about your statement when you push for stricter Gun Laws Nationwide, they will not work as people will find away around the stricter gun laws.”

Again with the same argument: criminals don’t obey laws, therefore there is no value in having them. So, let’s wipe all laws off the books. I have no intention of murdering someone, so it doesn’t matter if murder is illegal. However, criminals will murder whether there are laws against it or not. Same for robbery, rape, drunk driving…..and look how much money we could save if we didn’t convict anyone and jail them.

Please explain how my contention differs from yours, if you can. I am sure you must see something that I don’t.

Be careful- some politicians may latch on to that idea, then brag about how they brought the crime rate down.

    Oh, wait…. they already have:

Is that why he’s arming the rebels that are against Assad? Strange way of showing support for the guy.

    @ConserveGov

By slums you mean the majority of large cities in the US? Wow you are a great American. Look at the patriotic comments of ConserveGov, he calls 11 of the largest cities in our country slums. Glad to know how you think there. I thought you right wingers always accused liberals of “hating America”. I guess you dont read your own comments righties… Of the 15 largest U.S. cities, 11 went for Obama this past November. Not just the big, traditionally blue cities of the Northeast, Midwest, and West Coast, but a number of fast-growing Sun Belt cities as well.
To me these cities are part of the great American fabric, to ConserveGov they are slums…. NIce to know how the right wing thinks of our country.

WRONG! You have falsely attributed the decline in gun deaths to Right to Carry and Stand Your Ground laws. This is an unwarranted conclusion not supported by the data as reported the article you cited. Right now, we don’t know what the decline is due to.
One thing, though — it is extremely unlikely that more guns = fewer gun deaths. That’s been found over and over again. Heinlein got it dead wrong.
