Before we had a standing army the 2nd amendment made sense. When the government was new and there was uncertainty, it might have had some bearing, but times have changed. The government has weapons that a rifle cannot stop. Other than being able to kill people at will, there really doesn’t seem to be a need for individuals to need a gun, certainly not to protect our country … our army can do that much more effectively.
