    “Stop spending money we do not have.”

    I will believe Republicans are serious about eliminating the deficit when they propose real budget cuts for the largest military on earth several times over.

    Jase misspoke. He should have said “the most expensive military several times over.”
    But politicians will keep voting for weapons systems and other toys the military doesn’t need or even want….

    @Debt Free

    No, and no. The GOP has been responsible for the biggest deficits in history over the past three decades: Reagan ran on a “balanced budget” platform and blew it out the window every year. Bush II did even worse, turning the Clinton surplus into a major deficit with THREE unpaid-for wars while REDUCING taxes on the rich. Who’s the one spending all the money again? Oh, yeah, the so-called “conservatives.”
    Liberals want us to pay for what we get. Not let the rich take advantage by dumping debt on the poor.

    Declaring civil war over health care is not the smartest move.

    Except for a few line items that maybe no one will notice. Well played Mitch McConnell

    Then why did the Democrats do that?

    Part of the deal that ended the shutdown was 2 billion dollars in pork for Kentucky. That’s right, MicConnell’s pork. GOP pork.
