That McConnell did this is a good thing. It was another illustration that McConnell and the Republicans are not interested in the welfare of the country, but only in protecting the interests of the rich.
    -
More importantly, it makes clear the need for changing Senate rules to make it harder to abuse the use of the filibuster.

Time for that senile, corrupt “Good-Ole-Boy” to get booted out of the Senate! He is an embarrassment to the State of Kentucky, The Congress, and the entire Country!

I don’t know. I live in Kentucky and they seem to be pretty proud of him.

Yep. Lets go back to “Mr. Smith goes to Washington” rules. Bernie Sanders did the last one of these, a full eight hours and 37 minutes, and he stayed on topic (extending the tax cuts for the rich and his opposition thereof) and even turned it into a book. What a novel and great idea!

    -

If you really, really oppose something you should tell the world, in detail, what you oppose and why and what you would do differently. That’s what the filibuster was invented for, and used by men of honor it did it very well for centuries – until this batch of baggers and obstructionists arrived and perverted the idea like they pervert everything they touch…

I’m down in Wayne County, south of Monticello…
Sadly, Turtle-Boy is more them likely going to be another one like Strom Thurmond, or Jesse Helms, re-elected and re-elected again and again until he’s a drooling, incontinent babbling idiot like Thurmond was, or just senile, like Helms was.

He’s not just the worst minority leader ever, he’s one of the worst senators ever. I struggle to understand why people would be proud of, and re-elect, someone who would vote to shut a major bridge in his hometown down to traffic because it was unsafe.
    .
“Well … it’s a Obama ‘free’ bridge. We don’t want no one crossin’ no Obama ‘free’ bridge inta our God-fearin’ land.”

With all the multi-millionaires in Congress, why would they raise taxes on themselves? For every dollar they vote to give themselves they have to give it back to the government. Horror of horrors!!!!!

    @Ms. Ima

Well, with “All the Multimillionaires” in Congress, why are we even paying these idiots in the first place??
If we chop off their salaries, the treasury saves several Million $$ a month, and they have a smaller taxable income, so everyone wins!
Yes, the tax income from their salaries will drop, but it’s a heck of a lot less then we are paying those nitwits in the first place, so the treasury department STILL comes out ahead…

Sounds like Mitch McConnell had a little chat with someone that sounded a bit like this…

“But I CAN’T filibuster my own bill!”

“Then WE can’t fund your campaign next time around. "

Yep looks like another dumb episode of Kentucky Tea Bagger Hillbillies, no wonder Turtle Boy McConnell keeps getting elected. This proves we need intelligence tests before allowing these dimbulbs to vote.

Old men’s magazine cartoon: Obviously worn-out man is in his doctor’s office. The doctor is saying to him, “No, no! I told you to ‘masticate’ your meat thoroughly at each meal!”
    .
    Sorry.

Considering that you are in Germany and Bernie Sanders is a Socialist I can see why you admire him.

Sen. McConnells filibustering is the equivalent of throwing a tantrum. The good people of Kentucky really should think of retiring this old coot before he embarrasses himself & the body of the Senate any further.

Yeah, who would have figured that Democrats would ever actually be serious in giving the President unlimited authority to borrow money from the Chinese without coming to the Congress at all?
Silly McConnell, underestimating Democrats like that!
